St. Louis Writers' Guild (SLWG) -- A thriving, multi-genre writers' organization based in St. Louis, Missouri. These folks are serious about what they do and have a vibrant website. www.stlwritersguild.org. I post regularly on their literary blog, Eliot, at www.stlwritersguild.org/wordpress/index.php. Missouri Writers' Guild -- This multi-genre writers' organization hosts a small but absolutely excellent writers' conference in April each year. I spoke there in 2007 for the first time, and hope to be invited back. I highly recommend this one. www.missouriwritersguild.org Oklahoma Writers' Federation, Inc. (OWFI) -- A multi-genre writers' organization that hosts the oldest and most respected writers' conference in the Midwest in May each year. www.owfi.org Panhandle Professional Writers (PPW) -- Founded in 1920 and based in Amarillo, Texas, this is one of the oldest writing organizations in the nation. Their Frontiers in Writing writers' conference, held in June each year, is excellent. www.panhandleprowriters.org Society of Southwestern Authors (SSA) -- An excellent multi-genre writers' organization based in Tucson, Arizona provides the large, very well-run Wrangling with Writing conference each year in September. www.ssa-az.org A Long Story Short -- An interesting, informative, very helpful website for writers.
